BPPV
Benign Paroxysmal Positional Vertigo (BPPV) is the most common cause of dizziness related to the inner ear. Typically, it is triggered suddenly by certain head movements or positions, and results in an abnormal sensation of spinning, nausea or vomiting. THe condition results from a mechanical problem within the inner ear/vestibular system. Small crystals of calcium carbonate (ottoconia, also known as "ear rocks"), a necessary part of our equilibrium sense, become detached and move freely in the semicircular canals, sending false signals to the brain about spatial movement. While it is most common following a trauma to the head, it can also follow an upper respiratory infection or occur idiopathically with no known cause. For the person with BPPV, episodes of spinning vertigo, dizziness, lightheadedness, imbalance and nausea can be life-altering and disabling. Now there is a solution!
We specialize in the diagnosis and treatment of BPPV. Utilizing the Video ENG to determine the vestibular condition of the inner ear, our team of certified vestibular therapists can quickly and easily perform proven therapy techniques to eliminate symptoms altogether. Many patients are totally symptom-free after 1-4 treatments. Talk to your doctor and find out what OakBend Balance & Neuro PT can do for you.
Cervical Vertigo
Cerviocogenic dizziness is a diagnosis often given to patients that have experienced a neck injury or pain as well as dizziness and where other causes of the dizziness or vertigo have been ruled out.
Neuritis & Labyrinthitis
Neuritis and Labyrinthitis are vestibular disorders resulting from an infection that inflames the inner ear and/or nerves connecting the inner ear to the brain. Dizziness, vertigo, imbalance and problems with vision or hearing may result.
Infections of the inner ear are usually viral but can be bacterial. These inner ear infections are not the same as middle ear infections, which are a bacterial type common in childhood.

We specialize in the diagnosis and treatment of balance impairment often left behind after a neuritis or labyrinthitis episode. Utilizing the Video ENG to determine the vestibular condition of the inner ear, our team of certified vestibular therapists can quickly develop a customized treatment program to maximize patient success. Talk to your doctor and find out what OakBend Balance & Neuro PT can do for you.
Ménière's Disease
Ménière's Disease is a chronic, incurable vestibular (inner ear) disorder producing a recurring set of symptoms as a result of an abnormal amount of fluid called endolymph collecting in the inner ear.
Traditional triggers to an attack include: stress, overwork, fatigue, emotional distress, additional illnesses, pressure changes, certain foods and too much salt in the diet. Symptoms may vary before, during, between and after attacks.
OakBend Balance & Neuro PT specializes in vestibular rehabilitation, a therapy known to help patients with the imbalance that often plagues people between and after an attack. Our goal is to help retrain the patient's body and brain to process balance information.
